I wanted to post a ‘my first favourite things’ piece months ago but life has just been a bit crazy lately. So in honour of the craziness, I’ve decided to share some of my favourite de-stress rituals. These are things that have pretty much kept me sane during this time.
When life gets hectic, it’s always good to find some time out for yourself even if it’s just for a couple of hours a week. ‘Me time’ is essential to stay sane and function like a human.
SEE: Gone with the Wind
Gone with the Wind is one of my all time favourite books but it is over a 1000 pages long so when I want a quick dose I usually watch the movie which compresses the book into 4 hours! Margaret Mitchell’s epic American classic stars the lovely Vivien Leigh at Scarlett O’Hara and Clark Gable as Rhett Butler.
This is one of those movies I have to see at least once a year.
SCENT: Vanilla Candles
I burn through a ton of vanilla candles every month. Vanilla is my favourite candle scent. I love to unwind in a bubble bath with the smell of vanilla all over. It’s the most relaxing thing in the world to me.
I only discovered Sephora lip stains this year. I blame this on the fact that there’s no Sephora in the UK! My sister picked these up for me during her trip to Spain. They are incredible! They last for hours and the colours are really beautiful.
I’ve got Always Red & Forever Fuchsia with matching lip liners. I highly recommend these if you, like me, hate having to constantly touch up your lip colour.
READ: A Weekend With Mr Darcy
Reading is one of my favourite pass times. I keep wondering why some of the really good books I read never get made into movies. I’ve already reviewed this book and it’s a must-read for anyone who loves good chick lit and Jane Austen.
MAKE: Choc Chip Cookies
Ever since I made these cookies a few months ago, I’ve become addicted. They are so easy to make and they taste so yummy. I never thought I’d say thing but baking is also a great way to de-stress. I’ll be trying a few more recipes soon so stay tuned…
COLLECT: Vintage Chanel
I was recently gifted this absolutely stunning vintage Chanel scarf and if there’s one thing I know it’s that Chanel is an investment. The value of Chanel is in it’s timelessness. Nothing looks more stunning than stepping out wearing a vintage Chanel accessory.
