Hollywood’s elite strutted their stuff on the red carpet for the 66th Annual Emmy Awards and from the gallery of gowns, I’ve picked the hits and misses of the night.
HIT – Halle Berry looked incredible in this silk Elie Saab gown. I love the colour and cut of the gown including the thigh high slit. For me, this was the dress of the evening. Her hair and makeup looked great and her simple accessorising amplified her classy nature.
MISS – Sarah Paulson‘s Armani Prive dress looked like one big mess. It’s didn’t compliment her body and there’s just too much tulle popping out all over the place. It looked like a messy prom dress. Her hair and makeup looked great but were overshadowed by the dress.
HIT – Julia Roberts looked perfect in this midnight blue Elie Saab Haute Couture dress. I love that she chose to wear a short dress over a full length gown and still managed to look more elegant than the rest. Her flowing locks and classic makeup perfected the look.
MISS – Lena Dunham looks like a cake in this Giambattista Valli outfit. I get that she is aiming for the ‘I don’t give a shit’ look but this is just downright untidy. She’s a one of the most talented actors around and doesn’t need to make the statement she is trying to make.
HIT – Sofía Vergara looked stunning in this white Roberto Cavalli gown. It’s not the kinda look we’re used to seeing on her but it does go to show that simple says more. The red lips and bits of green add a splash of colour.
MISS – This Marchesa red gown does not look good on Christina Hendricks. It looks dated and the shape is not flattering on her. She also accessorised with gold which makes the whole thing extra kitsch.
HIT – Camila Alves looked incredible in this Zuhair Murad gown. The white, mosaic print dress complimented her long frame and her sleek hair and makeup finished the look. She attended the event with her dashing husband Matthew McConaughey who was nominated for True Detective.
Attending with her husband, nominee Matthew McConaughey, model @iamcamilaalves #camilaalves looked beautiful wearing a gown by #ZuhairMurad at the #66annualprimetimeemmyawards. The white ¾-sleeve gown featured a mosaic pattern and bateau neckline, and is from the #Resort2015 Collection. #emmyawards #emmys #redcarpet
MISS – Others might disagree on this one, but I thought Michelle Dockery‘s Rosie Assoulin dress looked like a table cloth. She always nails the red carpet so this can be overlooked. I do love her hair and makeup though.
HIT – Allison Williams looked really sweet in this Giambattista Valli though I’m still deciding whether the dress would’ve looked better without the yellow belt sash. Love the simple hair and makeup too.
MISS – I was not feeling Gwen Stefani‘s two piece Atelier Versace outfit which made her like a disco ball Her hair was also way too flat. I must admit I almost didn’t recognise her at first.
