Brunch at Caravan, King’s Cross

Nothing is more fun than having a girls brunch to catch up. My friend Monika and I hadn’t managed to catch up in a while and we decided to have a proper catch up on one cold Sunday in early January. She chose Caravan and, as always, her taste is impeccable.

Off course I was late for our meeting (as always) and this time due to my useless sense of direction and googling the wrong venue. Sadly this resulted in us not getting to order what we really wanted – the crab and spring onion omelette with wasabi lime mayo and black sesame because they were actually sold out by the time I got there. Our second choices more than made up for it though.

I chose the Jalapeño corn bread topped with fried eggs and black beans and seasoned with guindilla pepper.

Monika chose the aubergine puree, poached eggs, yoghurt, sumac, parsley and toast option. The fresh juices go well with each meal option. I chose the carrot, apple and ginger mix while Monika went for the bloody Mary.

We never seem to make reservations so we always end up at the bar which tends to work in our favour as we usually end up leaving when the restaurant’s about to close. There’s always so much to catch up on and a spot at the bar usually means we won’t get nagged by waiters hinting that they need the table. A major perk of leaving Caravan after the sun went down was definitely being able to see the colourful fountain display just out front.
