TEA BY THE SEA

As mentioned in my last post, drinking tea has become essential to my wellbeing and I’m now in the process of sampling Cape Town’s famous tea spots. Coincidently, my sister’s friend chose to celebrate her birthday last Sunday with high tea at The Twelve Apostles Hotel so I happily tagged along (uninvited).

High Tea is served at The Leopard Bar between 10am and 4pm. The chocolate theme menu includes a variety of finger sandwiches (cucumber sandwiches were notably absent though), scones with cream, chocolate cupcakes with lime butter cream, chocolate brownies, éclairs, macaroons, shortbread and vanilla pannacotta with forest berry gel. Coffee, flavoured teas and other drinks are served with the treats as well as after.

We had a reservation for 3:30pm which allowed us to stay on until past 4pm and watch the beautiful sunset on the deck. The ocean and mountain views are breathtaking and definitely a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Overall it was a pleasant experience but the treats weren’t as great as I expected.

Afternoon tea is set at R160.00 per person. Click here for more information and bookings.
