Burberry and the 7 B’s
Marie Claire South Africa article: 6 ‘b’s to remember from Burberry Prorsum AW14 show
Burberry’s ‘The Bloomsbury Girls’ truly stunned at LFW this week. What did we take away from the show? A few things starting with ‘b’:
The collection was inspired by the British decorative art of the Bloomsbury set and Charleston, the country home and meeting place for the writers, painters and intellectuals who formed the group.
The Autumn/Winter 2014 range displayed surprisingly loose, structured trench coats and tea dresses in the finest silks, leather and lace. The colour palette included elderberry, pink, red, bottle green, amber, yellow and camel tones.
Hand-painted boots complimented each look.
The look was free-spirited, with eyes painted in shades of damson and aubergine and rose pink blended softly underneath the eye to emphasize natural darkness. Lashes were left bare with naturally groomed brows while lips were pink with soft definition. The skin had a satin-matte finish. Nails were deep shades of elderberry.
The Bloomsbury bag is decorated with one-off hand-painted artworks.
The front row included Bradley Cooper who was there to support girlfriend model Suki Waterhouse. Other guests included One Directions Harry Styles, Tinie Tempah, Naomie Harris, Felicity Jones and Jamie Campbell- Bower.
To close the show, Christopher Bailey sent each model out wearing a blanket personalised with their initials. The models included Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn, Edie Campbell, Matilda Lowther, Malaika Firth, Charlotte Wiggins and Sam Rollinson.
Christoper Bailey greeted VIP guests and press backstage and gave some insight into his vision for the collection.
